You could also stop by Old Channel Lake since you're here at Hidden Valley Lake; it's close by, and float down the rapids of Gunpowder Creek in a kayak. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Hidden Valley Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Indian Springs Campground  
   is a pleasant spot for that, and on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Little Turtle Trail.
The yearly rainfall here at Hidden Valley Lake is about average; the wettest month of the year is typically May, that's the one that rains the most, and January is when it's the driest. But wait, there's more to do next to Hidden Valley Lake. Blue Lick Creek is a good place to visit, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Lawrenceburg is a magnificent
 
               site to spend a night or two. Just can't get enough of Hidden Valley Lake.
Hidden Valley Lake is not the only site nearby, Twin Lakes is a nearby lake, and dry warm beds await you at Quality Inn & Suites At The Casinos. Not far from Hidden Valley Lake you acquire some nice water scenery at Hidden Valley Lake Dam. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Hidden Valley Lake has to offer, you can camp at Hickory Lake Campground. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Hidden Valley Lake while overnight lows are frequently in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Hidden Valley Lake fall into the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. An afternoon playing golf at Sugar Ridge Golf Club is always a bliss, and if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the Blue Jacket Trail. Beaches are pleasant; and Long Island Beach close to Hidden Valley Lake is no exception; everyone close by loves skiing at Perfect North.

Great Miami River
Having paddled the 70 miles of the Great Miami, the WW is great for beginners or rec paddlers wanting to have a little excitement added to their trip.  Water Quality is good, in fact it can be better then the Little Miami during low water.  Best time to hit the GM is when it is running between 2500cfs and 3800cfs (Hamilton USGS gage if your looking for some WW.  There isn't too many places in the summer in the Midwest you can find good water and waves, but the Great Miami still flows well in August....50 hole is not much of a surf and it is a porta john.......

wow thats crazy......d just pass and go over and when we came throuh ole gunpowder was cooking pretty good we went and got his canoe and put in at the bridge thier at camp ernst rd. the water was white caping man we were moving really fast it was great. we went about a mile when we saw a tree that had fallen all the way across the creek we started to paddle for the bank when we got up to the bank i push to get us on the bank and my paddle broke in half in my hand. so here we are about a mile down creek with one paddle.so much for old wooded paddles we packed the canoe around the tree and put back in well needless to say its hard to steer a canoe with one paddle . we met the first tree limb that was hanging over it knock our butts out of the boat .were going down the creek with the canoe upside down . there is no getting your footing . we finally got to a calm spot i guess a deep pool were we could get to the bank flip the canoe upright and proceed again it wasnt very long til the same type of deal happend again this time leaving the canoe pinned against a tree. the water was rushing in were you could ...
