If you came to camp Fox Valley Camp Ground is a tremendous place to do that, and there are other places here than Willow Lake, for example North Lake. After a long day outdoors Hampton Inn Chicago Elgin / I90 is a good site to spend a night or two, and the Lake Defiance Trail is a brilliant hiking trail nearby. What would winter be without some skiing at Villa Olivia, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the Fox River Trail. This lake is so wonderful.

| | A splendid place for whitewater paddling near Willow Lake is Fox River; it's a great idea to check out Jelkes Creek. So much fun stuff to do at Willow Lake, so little time. wonderful hiking trail. There's so much to do here at Willow Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Buffalo Park Campground is a magnificent place for that, and Highlands of Elgin Golf Course is a golf course nearby. An
average amount of rain falls at Willow Lake; June is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February. Through the summer here at Willow Lake, high temperatures typically get into the 80's. During the
moonlight hours it's regularly in the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Willow Lake sink into the 0's.

Fox River
 | 10 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |

Luscious theme park sized soil undulations caused by the glacier! Interesting gravel. You sense the deer watching you. About an hour around if you are walking for fitness. Avoid only when icy.
