The beauty of Willow Lake is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Buffalo Park Campground is a good campground nearby, and while you're here, you could also have a look at striking Lake Marian. North Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to; why not take a refreshing hike along the Lake Defiance Trail. From a precipitation point of view Willow Lake is a pretty typical spot; throughout the month of June you get the most rain around here, and

| | the driest month of the year is February. So many amusing things to do here at Willow Lake, too glorious to be true. If you need a place to stay Chicago/Elgin Super 8 Motel is a great choice, and playing golf is lots of fun at Highlands of Elgin Golf Course. Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Elgin, Il is a tremendous site to get some rest; there's some flowing water close by, Jelkes Creek is a stream you can check out while here. This lake is so wonderful. | |

The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Villa Olivia, and Willow Lake is a tremendous location to visit for more than one day, Fox Valley Camp Ground is a tremendous location to camp nearby. Take a hike on the
Leather Leaf Bog Trail, and you can hit the slopes at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing) in the vicinity. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Willow Lake; Fox River Trail is a fine local trail, and whitewater
paddling is nice on Fox River. During the warm months at Willow Lake temperatures are frequently in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Willow Lake.

Fox River
 | 10 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |

Luscious theme park sized soil undulations caused by the glacier! Interesting gravel. You sense the deer watching you. About an hour around if you are walking for fitness. Avoid only when icy.
