Hit the slopes at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing) in the neighborhood, and you can run the rapids of White River. Just can't get enough of Wilderness Lake. This lake is so wonderful. For you golfers we recommend nearby Pistakee Country Club; you don’t have to go far from Wilderness Lake to spot the water at McHenry Lock and Dam.

This lake is so wonderful. Have a glorious hiking adventure along the Lake Defiance Nature Trail, and if you're here, you could also explore picturesque Lac Louette. During the summer here at Wilderness Lake, high temperatures commonly
reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 20's with temperatures at Wilderness Lake dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. Wilderness Lake is glorious
enough to spend more than a day at, Fox Valley Camp Ground is a glorious local campground, and if you like swamps you're in luck, Leatherleaf Bog is right nearby.
If the weather is brilliant here at Wilderness Lake, you can go
for a hike along the Leather Leaf Bog Trail, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Wilmot mountain. Going for a hike along the Lake Defiance Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood, and dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Mchenry.
