This lake is so wonderful. The skiing at Wilmot mountain is great, and McHenry Lock and Dam is a delightful site, absolutely worth taking a look at. This is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Pistakee Country Club is a glorious golf course nearby,       and if you came for an overnight stay Fox Valley Camp Ground is a pleasant site to camp. Why not camp at Pistakee Fishing Club while you're here at Wilderness Lake, and Wilderness Lake is right by the Lake Defiance Nature Trail. If you come at the right time of year, White River offers some good whitewater, and there are plenty of folks from Whitewater here at Wilderness Lake. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Wilderness Lake while                  night lows are mostly in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's while Wilderness Lake nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. If you love the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Wilderness Lake. Swamps like Leatherleaf Bog are fun to have a look at, and lakes are such calm places, why not explore Defiance Lake. After a long day outdoors Hampton Inn McHenry is a brilliant place to spend a night or two, and hiking along the Lake Defiance Trail is perfect fun. This lake is so wonderful. Super 8 McHenry is a tremendous place to get some rest, and there are other places here than Wilderness Lake, for example Tomahawk Lake.
