Not far from West Lagoon, you'll stumble on South Lagoon which is a beautiful lake; after a long day outdoors Ramada Lake Shore Chicago is a perfect place to spend a night or two. Summertime highs at West Lagoon ordinarily tend to be in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's while the cold winter nights at West Lagoon are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. If you want to hit the beach,

| | Fiftyninth Street Beach is close by. Lakes are delightful; East Lagoon is a lake that's close to West Lagoon. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff at West Lagoon. A good close by hotel is Beadle Inn; lots of folks from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet come here.

The Governor’s office recently announced that the State of Illinois will be closing the I&M and Hennepin Canal State Parks. While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen.
