Very picturesque scenery and great skiing is what you get at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing), and after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Crystal Lake is a brilliant place to spend a night or two. A visit to Indian Trail Beach in the neighborhood of Vulcan Lakes is always a fine idea; a good close by hotel is Super 8 Crystal Lake. You're perhaps into lakes, Lake in the Hills Number 2 is one of those close by, and camping at Fox Valley

| | Camp Ground is always a brilliant experience. Vulcan Lakes gets a normal amount of rain; during June this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is February. There's whitewater on Fox River for all you adrenaline people; if the weather is fine, you can go for a hike along the Lake Defiance Trail. This lake is so wonderful. The Leather Leaf Bog Trail is a good hiking trail next to Vulcan Lakes, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Fox River | |

Crystal Lake Country Club is a delightful way to kill some time. This lake is so wonderful. This is a wonderful area for people who like lakes. Lake in the Hills is a lake in close proximity; you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t
go skiing at Villa Olivia if you're here. During the summer months at Vulcan Lakes highs are mostly in the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's, and night lows in the 0's for Vulcan Lakes.

 | 18 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
