If you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Fox River; the Fox River Trail is a brilliant hiking trail close by. High temperatures at Twin Lakes during the summertime are in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's with temperatures at Twin Lakes dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Stay the night at E Z Go; delightful skiing awaits you at Raging

| | Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing). Yeah, come here to Twin Lakes for a delightful time. On a brilliant day at Twin Lakes you can take a hike along the Lake Defiance Trail, and you can never get enough of the great skiing at Villa Olivia. Lots of people from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet come to Twin Lakes; Lake Barrington Shores Golf Club is a great golf course nearby. This lake is so wonderful. nearby; since you're here, you could also stop at striking Dana Lake. The annual rainfall here at Twin Lakes is about average; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. You'll stumble on
a charming lake called Lacey Lake near Twin Lakes, and there is a nice hiking trail close by called the Lake Defiance Nature Trail. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Chicago Marriott Northwest is a wonderful place to spend a night or two, and a tremendous nearby hotel is Days Inn Barrington - Chicago.

 | 17 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
