Go to Twin Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. There's whitewater on Fall Creek for all you thrill seekers, and do stop at Turtle Lake, it's a pretty lake. Twin Lake beyond doubt is in the middle of a stunning outdoors paradise. A delightful location in close proximity to Twin Lake is Distillery Hollow, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Quincy here. Twin Lake is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Valley View Mobile Home Park is a tremendous local campground, and it's a perfect idea to explore Mill Creek. This lake is so wonderful. The amount of rain that falls at Twin Lake is close to the national average; July is the month that gets the most rain while February is generally the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. here at Twin Lake is Bayview Campers Park, and Microtel Quincy is a great place to get some rest. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Cedar Creek, and you'll discover a charming lake called Big Lake. Summertime highs at Twin
Lake ordinarily tend to be in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. During the winter the highs are commonly in the 30's; overnight lows at Twin Lake during the winter regularly plunge into the 10's.

 | 1 PHOTO In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago.... |
