If you need a place to stay Americas Best Value Inn/Quincy is a splendid choice, and camping at Valley View Mobile Home Park is always a fine experience. Summertime highs at Twin Lake usually tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights

Cedar Creek
 | 1 PHOTO In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago.... |
