Take a little spree to Crooked Creek since you're here at Tomahawk Slough, and if you came to camp A-ok Campgrounds Of Frankfort is a fine site to do that. If you haven’t been to Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor, you should schedule some time for it if you're here, and at Tomahawk Slough you always meet someone from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet. While you're here at Tomahawk Slough, you could also visit striking Bull Frog Lake; after a long day outdoors Quality Inn Burr Ridge is a good site to spend a night or two. Flagg Creek Golf Course Restaurant is a golf course nearby. Just can't get enough of Tomahawk Slough. This lake is so wonderful. Saganashkee Slough is a nearby lake that you could pop by, and a wonderful close by hotel is Chicago
Marriott Southwest at Burr Ridge. You can never get enough of the splendid skiing at Four Lakes, and tremendous skiing awaits you at Villa Olivia. Columbia Woods is worth visiting, and swamps don’t sound that pleasant but Cramer
Slough close to Tomahawk Slough is pretty pleasant. For the duration of the months of summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Tomahawk Slough, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are
in the 20's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Tomahawk Slough drop into the 10's. Tomahawk Slough is a good spot of common rain; through the month of July you get the most rain around here, and February on the other hand is the driest.

 | The Governor’s office recently announced that the State of Illinois will be closing the I&M and Hennepin Canal State Parks. While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen. Please help keep this trail open.  | 12 miles away 1 PHOTO To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest.... |
