If you are in McHenry county it's always a good idea to stop by Thunderbird Lake. Wilmot mountain is a very popular ski area in close proximity, and pleasant hiking is available along the Leather Leaf Bog Trail. Thunderbird Lake is a good location of normal rain; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest of the months is February. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Thunderbird Lake, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 20's, and night lows in the 10's for Thunderbird Lake. Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Pistakee Fishing Club is a great local campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Thunderbird Lake; Lake Defiance Trail is a perfect local trail.
A round of golf at nearby Prairie Isle
Golf Club is a delightful way to kill some time, and a perfect nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel - Mchenry. This lake is so wonderful. There are some fine whitewater spots on White River. If only every site had this much outdoors entertaining
stuff, what a great planet it would be. Why not camp at Fox Valley Camp Ground while you're here at Thunderbird Lake; you can go for a hike on the Fox River Trail.
