Camping is available at Pistakee Fishing Club; if you like skiing, you're in luck; Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing) is rather near. Thunderbird Lake in fact is in the middle of a stunning outdoors paradise. A fine place to camp here at Thunderbird Lake is Fox Valley Camp Ground,       and on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Fox River Trail. Summertime at Thunderbird Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Thunderbird Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Wilmot mountain is a perfect local ski area; while you're here, you could also visit lovely Lake Killarney. Thunderbird                  Lake is a good place of typical rainfall; July is when you get the most rain here, and February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Float down the rapids of White River in a kayak, and you'll stumble on a pretty lake called Thunderbird Lake. You'll meet a lot of people from Whitewater here. Near Thunderbird Lake you hit upon the Lake Defiance Trail which is a fine hiking trail; dry warm beds await you at Hampton Inn McHenry.
