This lake is so wonderful. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Villa Olivia, and if you've had enough of Third Lake, Gages Lake is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. The smiling folks of Racine like to hang out close by, and Third Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Fox River Recreation is a good local       campground. And if you're still looking for more outdoors amusing things just keep reading. You could also stop by Druce Lake while you're here at Third Lake; it's nearby, and there's magnificent hiking along the Lake Defiance Nature Trail. A good place for whitewater paddling near Third Lake is Pike River; after a long day outdoors Comfort Suites Grayslake is a glorious spot to spend a night or two.
