Do check out Tampier Lake Dam if you're here at Tampier Lake, and Des Plaines has a good whitewater paddling spot close by. After a long day outdoors Homewood Suites by Hilton Orland Park is a perfect spot to spend a night or two. There's so much to do here at Tampier Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Windy City Campground is a fine location for that. This lake is so wonderful. Campgrounds Of Frankfort. Throughout the summer months at Tampier Lake temperatures are usually in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are regularly in the 20's with winter
lows in the 10's overnight here at Tampier Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Gleneagles Country Club is a tremendous golf course nearby.
The annual rainfall here at Tampier Lake is about average; July is when you get the most rain
here; the driest month is February. Tampier Lake is not far at all from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet; you can never get enough of the fine skiing at Villa Olivia.

 | The Governor’s office recently announced that the State of Illinois will be closing the I&M and Hennepin Canal State Parks. While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen. Please help keep this trail open. To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest.... |
