to stay Hotel Baker is a glorious choice. Highlands of Elgin Golf Course is a magnificent golf course close by. There's so much to do here at Spring Valley Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Union Koa Kampground is a delightful
spot for that. Spring Valley Lake gets a common amount of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is regularly June, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest. If you don’t have a problem getting
covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Fox River; the slopes of Villa Olivia are so inviting nobody can resist. For the period of the days of summer at Spring Valley Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's
while overnight lows are generally in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Spring Valley Lake.

Fox River
 | While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
