The scenery at Galvins Lake Dam in the vicinity of Spring Lake is charming; going for a hike along the Lake Defiance Nature Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. Spring Lake gets a typical amount of annual rain; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. All through the warm days of summer highs here at Spring Lake get into the 80's; the nighttime is fairly chillier of course, commonly

| | in the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are frequently in the 20's, and night lows at Spring Lake all through the winter commonly dip into the 0's. A wonderful close by hotel is Days Inn Barrington - Chicago; whitewater paddling is good on Fox River. Take a hike on the Fox River Trail. And that's not all you can do here at Spring Lake. Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing). If you need a site to stay Chicago Marriott Northwest is a good choice; you'll stumble on a charming lake called Mirror Lake. Stay the night at Fox Valley Camp Ground, and
you can hit the slopes at Villa Olivia nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Spring Lake is a good location to visit for more than one day, Buffalo Park Campground is a good location to camp nearby, and a striking lake like Mud Lake
is a great spot to explore. This lake is so wonderful. Cary Country Club is a pleasant golf course close by, and close by you'll locate a wooded region called Spring Creek Valley Forest Preserve.

Fox River
 | 16 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
