Little Vermilion River is a great site to go to, and one of the governing marks of the surroundings of Split Rock Lake is Piety Hill. This lake is so wonderful. Split Rock Lake is not the only location close by, Deer Park Lake is a close by lake, and a great nearby hotel is Oglesby-Days Inn. Split Rock Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Hickory Hollow Campground is a great local campground, and if you       come at the right time of year, Little Vermilion River offers some good whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. Split Rock Lake gets a normal amount of rain; throughout May this area sees the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. A brilliant spot to camp here at Split Rock Lake is Lasalle/Peru KOA; Holiday Inn Express Oglesby(La Salle/Peru Area),Il is a nice spot to get some rest. For the period of the long summer days at Split Rock Lake highs                  are generally in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Split Rock Lake temperatures descend to the 10's. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. Why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like South Bluff Golf Course, and there are plenty of people from Ottawa-Streator here at Split Rock Lake.
