This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such peaceful places, why not stop at Poeling Lake in close proximity       to Smith Lake. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Smith Lake has to offer, you can camp at Neumann's Olde Oak Ridge Park. Super 8 Motel - Alton is a tremendous spot to get some rest, and an afternoon playing golf at Lockhaven Country Club is always a bliss. You'll meet a lot of folks from St. Louis here. You truly must adore Smith Lake. Wilkinson Pond is a magnificent lake near Smith Lake; Little Piasa Creek is one of the streams close by                  that might be worth stopping at.
