The beauty of Shaus Lake is reason enough to stop by. High temperatures at Shaus Lake through the summertime months are in the 80's; the overnight is fairly chillier of course, commonly in the 70's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Shaus Lake. A good nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Cahokia, Il, and Camp Dresser & Mcgee is a good local campground. All the outdoors fun things near Shaus Lake will keep

| | you coming back again and again. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Mississippi River; since you're here, you could also visit stunning Howe Lake.
If you need a spot to stay Super 8 Motel - Waterloo is a brilliant choice; a day on the slopes of Hidden Valley is just what you need. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Shaus Lake there are plenty of folks from St. Louis, and obviously Wilson Creek flows through this neighborhood.

Shaus Lake gets a common amount of yearly precipitation; through May this area sees the most rain; the driest month of the year is January. Do pop by Steppig Lake in close proximity to Shaus Lake, it's a pretty lake, and why not camp
at Cahokia RV Parque since you're here at Shaus Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A golf course right next door to Shaus Lake is River Lakes Golf Course, and do put some time aside to spend at Terry Spring since you're here at Shaus Lake.

Cahokia RV Parque
 | We spent a couple of nights at the Cahokia RV Parque recently and we were very satisfied. The location is off of a main road (IL 3) which makes it noisy, but easily accessible. The park is very close to downtown STL; about 5 miles. It is in a commercial area, close to East St. Louis, but we felt secure and comfortable. Though small and tightly spaced like most city RV parks, it is well kept. The only two complaints we had was the lack of cable TV and free WiFi. Though the park does have WiFi, there is a daily charge. Service was excellent, and the people were very helpful, courteous and accommodating. We were at first hesitant based on a previous review, but was surprised to be greeted and helped by some of the best parks staffers I have met. We looked at two other RV parks in the STL downtown area, and Cahokia Parque was easily the best. I would highly recommend this park to anyone travelling to or through St. Louis.... |
