     Scheuermann Lake is always a pleasure to visit. Scheuermann Lake is not the only spot nearby, Sill Lake is a nearby lake, and it's a brilliant idea to go to Whiteoak Creek. If you need a location to stay Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Quincy, IL is a great choice, and Scheuermann Lake Dam is lovely. If you came to camp Whispering Oaks Campgrounds is a pleasant place to do that, and get your pulse rate up on the great whitewater of Bear Creek.
Scheuermann Lake
 
   gets a typical amount of rainfall; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. Quincy Super 8 Motel is a good place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. At Scheuermann Lake you always meet someone from Quincy; Scheuermann Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Valley View Mobile Home Park is a brilliant local campground.
What a place this is for outdoors folks. You can run the rapids
 
               of Cedar Creek right next door to Scheuermann Lake, and if you've had enough of Scheuermann Lake, Camp Saukenauk Lake is close by. All through the summer here at Scheuermann Lake, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Scheuermann Lake.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
