Scheuermann Lake Dam is striking and it's in close proximity to Scheuermann Lake; you can run the rapids of Cedar Creek. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Quincy, IL is a tremendous place to spend a night or two; Scheuermann Lake is not the only site close by, Camp Saukenauk Lake is a close by lake. A good close by hotel is Comfort Inn Canton, and it's a good idea to stop at Whiteoak Creek. High temperatures

| | at Scheuermann Lake through the summertime are in the 80's. Summer night lows plunge down to the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Scheuermann Lake. You'll meet a lot of folks from Quincy here. There's whitewater on Bear Creek for all you adrenaline people. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Scheuermann Lake has to offer, you can camp at Valley View Mobile Home Park. Cedar Creek
 | 10 miles away 1 PHOTO In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out.
