Visiting Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and there's a splendid forest called Halsted Woods. Sauk Trail Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Emerald Trails is a nice local campground, and Sauk Trail Lake Dam is not far at all from Sauk Trail Lake. This lake is so wonderful. While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen.
