It's always fun to stop by Sand Lake. Bluebill Lake is a glorious lake in the vicinity of Sand Lake, and you can stay the night at Valley View Mobile Home Park. This lake is so wonderful. Near Sand Lake you find a golf course called Westview Golf Course, and it's a great idea to explore Mill Creek. You can run the rapids of Cedar Creek close to Sand Lake, and Distillery Hollow is a great place to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Fall Creek is a good whitewater

You'll need more than a day to explore everything Sand Lake has to offer, you can camp at Bayview Campers Park. generally in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Sand Lake. A normal amount of rain falls here at Sand Lake; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.

Cedar Creek
 | 1 PHOTO In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out.
