Saint Charles South Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. At Saint Charles South Lake during the warm months highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Saint Charles South Lake dipping down into the 0's all through winter nights. | | falls all through June, and February on the other hand is the driest. After a long day outdoors Hotel Baker is a nice site to spend a night or two; a lake close by is Mooseheart Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Head up to Villa Olivia and strap some skis to your feet. The snow is good at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing), and if you're a golfer then a brilliant close by course is St Charles Country Club. Just can't get enough | |

Saint Charles South
Dam has nice water scenery and it's in the neighborhood of Saint Charles South Lake, and why not take a little tour to Ferson Creek while you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Peck Lake is a nearby lake that you could have a look
at, and if you came for an overnight stay Buffalo Park Campground is a pleasant place to camp. Hide-A-Way Lakes is a tremendous local campground, and do pay a visit to Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor while you're here at Saint Charles South Lake.

Fox River
| While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |

While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen.
