    It's always fun to stop by Saganashkee Slough. A visit to Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor is recommended, and Henry DeTonty Woods is a fine local forest. Four Lakes is a great local ski area, and if you're here and you like golf, you can explore Gleneagles Country Club. This lake is so wonderful. This is a popular site for folks from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet, and Cramer Slough is a swamp near Saganashkee Slough.

   not the only site nearby, Saganashkee Slough is a nearby lake, and dry warm beds await you at Marriott Chicago Southwest At Burr Ridge. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things close to Saganashkee Slough. Everybody close by loves skiing at Villa Olivia, and if you came for an overnight stay A-ok Campgrounds Of Frankfort is a magnificent place to camp. This lake is so wonderful. In case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling  
               on Des Plaines, and a quick visit to Crooked Creek is unquestionably a glorious idea.
An exciting thing to go to close to Saganashkee Slough is Bull Frog Lake Dam, and if you need a site to stay Holiday Inn Chicago-Willowbrk-Hinsdale, Il is a glorious choice. Through the months of summer here at Saganashkee Slough, high temperatures typically get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 60's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Saganashkee Slough dip into the 10's. What a place this is for outdoors folks.
From a precipitation point of view Saganashkee Slough is a reasonably typical site; through the month of July you get the most rain around here; February on the other hand is the driest. The Governor’s office recently announced that the State of Illinois will be closing the I&M and Hennepin Canal State Parks. While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen. Please help keep this trail open. And youth group area is $2 per person, min.$20 per night Starved Rock is $25 per nite and $35 on holiday week ends Fri-Mon. Illini campground is permanently closing on Nov. 1,2008 Gov.Blagojevic is closing many nice parks. in region 1, 2, &3 but none in his area....

To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest....

Villa Olivia is a great place to bring your family specially of you have small kids. It's like a big snow playground. The slope is not very impressive but it's ok for a quick little mini ski trip....
