Not far from Rip Slough, you'll hit upon Scuds Lake which is a picturesque lake, and why not camp at A-ok Campgrounds Of Frankfort since you're here at Rip Slough. Visiting Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor is just something you need to do if you haven't yet; Super 8 Mokena/Frankfort /I-80 is a nice place to get some rest. here you can play some golf at Sanctuary Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Martin Campground-joliet is a great place to camp, and at Rip Slough you always meet someone from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet.
Throughout the days of summer at Rip Slough temperatures are usually in the 80's, and the night is fairly cooler of course, typically in the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 20's, and night lows all through the wintertime for Rip Slough tend to be in the 10's.

While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen.  | 1 PHOTO To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest.... |
