The snow is wonderful at Four Lakes, and Lake Shokakana Family Resort is a fine campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Super 8 Joliet I-55 N/Chicago is a great choice; some of the water nearby flows, like Lily Cache Creek. Lake Renwick gets a normal amount of rain; June is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because

| | Wedgwood Golf Course is in the vicinity, and lakes are such peaceful places, why not go to Lake Plainfield. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Villa Olivia is close to Lake Renwick, and Empress Rv Resort is a wonderful local campground. Lake Renwick is a site with many visitors from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet, and paddling on Des Plaines is so much fun. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff at Lake Renwick. & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor will blow your mind; the Tallgrass Nature Trail is a perfect hiking trail close by. Get soaked paddling on Fox River. This lake is so wonderful. You'll find a lovely lake called Legion
Lake near Lake Renwick, and dry warm beds await you at Hampton Inn Joliet/I55. The warmest time of the year at Lake Renwick arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are generally in the 60's. Highs all through the winter are frequently in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Lake Renwick are in the 10's.

 | 1 PHOTO To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest.... |

Fox River
 | 15 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
