    A visit to Pond 33 is always a good idea. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Marion; Little Wolf Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit. Here at Pond 33 there are plenty of folks from Marion-Herrin, and Pond 33 is a fine site to visit for more than one day, Marion Campground and RV Park is a fine site to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. For you golfers we recommend nearby Pine Lakes Golf Course, and Pond 33 is not the only  
   spot close by, Pond 38 is a close by lake.
At Pond 33 during the days of summer highs are in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and night lows during the wintertime for Pond 33 tend to be in the 10's. You simply must have a thing about Pond 33. You could also explore Herrin Reservoir Number 2 if you're here at Pond 33; it's nearby, and in the event that you don't
 
               mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Little Grassy Creek. All the water falling down from the sky makes Pond 33 a wet place; the wettest month of the year is commonly March, that's the one that rains the most while January is usually the driest month.
Comfort Suites Marion is a wonderful place to get some rest; Devils Kitchen Marina and Campground is a great local campground.

Buck Ridge Campground

Buck Ridge Campground was closed in 2007 and I'm very upset to see that happen. The area is depressed and could really benefit from this wonderful campground. You can still hike in but we will miss our trips and the wonderful memories that awaited us. I'm truly upset about this loss. The park is gorgeous. I hope to see an outpouring of requests to reopen this national treasure....
