There's some flowing water nearby, Little Wolf Creek is a stream you can pop by while you're here, and Pond 38 is a nearby lake that you could pop by. If you get bored of Pond 33, you could also take a look at nearby Herrin Reservoir Number 2, and there are plenty of people from Marion-Herrin here. For the duration of the long summer days here at Pond 33, high temperatures usually get into the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly colder of course, frequently in

| | the 60's. Highs during the winter are mostly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Pond 33 are in the 10's. Pond 33 is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Marion Campground and RV Park is a perfect local campground, and Super 8 Marion is a great spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. site to spend a night or two. And that's not all you can do here at Pond 33. If you came to camp Devils Kitchen Marina and Campground is a magnificent place to do that; if you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater
paddling on Little Grassy Creek. Pond 33 gets lots of water; during March this area sees the most rain while January is generally the driest month.

Buck Ridge Campground
 | 11 miles away Buck Ridge Campground was closed in 2007 and I'm very upset to see that happen. The area is depressed and could really benefit from this wonderful campground. You can still hike in but we will miss our trips and the wonderful memories that awaited us. I'm truly upset about this loss. The park is gorgeous. I hope to see an outpouring of requests to reopen this national treasure.... |
