Why not camp at Buffalo Park Campground since you're here at North Lake, and Beverly Lake is a glorious lake nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Lake Defiance Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood, and North Lake Dam has glorious water scenery. Beaches are great; and Indian Trail Beach right next door to North Lake is no exception; golf can be played at Rolling Knolls Country Club. If you came for an overnight

| | stay Fox Valley Camp Ground is a splendid spot to camp, and a great nearby hotel is Days Inn Elgin. During the days of summer here at North Lake, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and night lows at North Lake through the winter typically sink into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. is perfect fun; skiing at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing) is one of those things you just ought to do. While you're here at North Lake you can take a hike along the Lake Defiance Nature Trail, and after
a long day outdoors Chicago Marriott Northwest is a great location to spend a night or two. Paddling on Fox River is so much fun. North Lake gets a common amount of annual precipitation; most of the rain falls during June, and
the driest of the months is February. But wait, there's more to do next to North Lake. A beautiful lake like Penny Road Pond in the vicinity of North Lake is a good place to stop by; you can never get enough of the pleasant skiing at Villa Olivia.

Fox River
 | 13 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
