You completely have to love New Thompson Lake. New Thompson Lake is not far at all from Carbondale, and there are other places here than New Thompson Lake, for example Thompson Lake. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to New Thompson Lake with nighttime lows in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's while the cold winter       nights at New Thompson Lake are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. New Thompson Lake is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Devil's Kitchen Boat Dock is a tremendous local campground, and New Thompson Lake Dam is picturesque. There's so much to do here at New Thompson Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Crab Orchard Camp Grounds is a nice place for that, and in close proximity to New Thompson Lake you come across a golf course                  called Jackson Country Club. Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Carbondale is a perfect place to get some rest; Deer Lake is a wonderful lake close by.
