Mud Slough is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. This lake is so wonderful. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors entertaining stuff the area in close proximity to Mud Slough has to offer. Get covered with water paddling on Cedar Creek. There's so much to do here at Mud Slough that you need to camp here for a while, Mississippi Hillside Cabin is a great site for that. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express

| | Keokuk,Ia, and if you like swamps you're in luck, Copper Slough is right close by. Mud Slough gets a normal amount of annual precipitation; most of the rain falls during July, and February is when it's the driest. If you need a site to stay Chief Motel is a fine choice, naturally you could also take a look at Silver Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. of Keokuk Campground, and Pickens Lake Dam is not far at all from Mud Slough. Paddling on Bear Creek is so much fun, and you're sure to encounter some fine people from Quincy here. During the summer months here at Mud Slough,
high temperatures regularly get into the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Mud Slough throughout the winter mostly
fall into the 10's. Have a splendid hiking adventure along the Locust Lane Nature Trail, and almost certainly you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Little Rocky Run Lake is just a very short distance away.

 | 16 miles away 1 PHOTO In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out.
