Mooseheart Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Mooseheart Lake has to offer, you can camp at Buffalo Park Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Valley Green Golf Course is a golf course close to Mooseheart Lake; beautiful scenery and wonderful skiing is what you obtain at Villa Olivia. thing to check out. Get your pulse rate up on the fine whitewater of Fox River, and on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Fox Ridge Nature Trail.

Fox River
 | While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
