Not far from Mirror Lake, you'll find Lacey Lake which is a wonderful lake, and nearby you stumble on the Fox River Trail which is a fine hiking trail. Spring Creek Valley Forest Preserve is a forest close to Mirror Lake that you can go to; hey, Gotta ski right? Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing) is a great place to do that. This lake is so wonderful. For you golfers we recommend close by Cary Country Club. You'll need more than

| | a day to explore everything Mirror Lake has to offer, you can camp at Fox Valley Camp Ground. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Mirror Lake. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 60's. Highs throughout the winter are generally in the 20's while Mirror Lake night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. Trail. Dry warm beds await you at Days Inn Barrington - Chicago. There's so much to do here at Mirror Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Buffalo Park Campground is a pleasant site for that. This place is excellent, just
check out all the entertaining things to do in close proximity to Mirror Lake. If you need a place to stay Chicago Marriott Northwest is a pleasant choice, and wonderful scenery and brilliant skiing is what you acquire at Villa Olivia.
A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Mirror Lake; through the month of June you get the most rain around here while February is usually the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Lake Defiance Trail is always a great adventure. Lakes? Sure, Goose Lake is close by.

Fox River
 | 16 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
