There's whitewater on Fox River for all you adrenaline rush seekers, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Lake Defiance Trail. Lake Melissa is a splendid place to visit for more than one day, Fox Valley Camp Ground is a splendid place to camp nearby; folks from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet love to come here. This lake is so wonderful. The snow is glorious at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing). You'll need more than a

If you need a place to stay Hoffman Estates Chicago Red Roof Inn is a good choice, and Keene Lake Dam is an interesting thing to check out. All through the warm months here at Lake Melissa, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's while night lows are usually in the 60's. all through the winter are in the 0's. Dana Lake is a wonderful lake right next door to Lake Melissa, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Lake Defiance Nature Trail. The yearly rain here at Lake Melissa is about average;
August is the month that gets the most rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. This site is excellent, just check out all the enjoyable stuff to do next to Lake Melissa. A wonderful lake like Twin Lakes in close proximity
to Lake Melissa is a splendid spot to have a look at, and why not head up to Villa Olivia and strap some skis to your feet. While you're here at Lake Melissa you can play some golf at Lake Barrington Shores Golf Club. This lake is
so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Days Inn Barrington - Chicago is a good location to spend a night or two, and if the weather is glorious, you can go for a hike along the Fox River Trail.

There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
