Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor is a magnificent spot right next door to Maple Lake, and there's whitewater on Des       Plaines for all you thrill seekers. A splendid nearby hotel is Chicago Marriott Southwest at Burr Ridge; you'll in all probability meet some people from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet here. Columbia Woods is worth a visit, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Villa Olivia is quite near.
