     This is a great neighborhood for people who like lakes. Little Rocky Run Lake is a lake close by, and Limkemann Pond is a good location to visit for more than one day, Mississippi Hillside Cabin is a good location to camp nearby. Here at Limkemann Pond you'll most likely meet some people from Quincy; if you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express KEOKUK is a great choice. For the duration of the warm months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Limkemann Pond;  
   during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's while Limkemann Pond nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. Limkemann Pond is a good place of normal rain; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest month is February.
And if you're still looking for more outdoors entertaining stuff just keep reading. Cedar Creek has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby;
 
               Chief Motel is a magnificent place to get some rest. Lakes are brilliant; Rocky Run Lake is a lake that's in the vicinity of Limkemann Pond, and if you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Bear Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Locust Lane Nature Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and City of Keokuk Campground is a brilliant campground nearby.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
