There's whitewater on Fall Creek for all you adrenaline kick people; a wonderful close by hotel is Best Western On the River. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from Hannibal here, and a lake nearby is Circle Pond. From a precipitation point of view Lily Pond is a reasonably normal place; through July this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. For you golfers we recommend nearby American Legion Golf Course.

Cedar Creek
 | 12 miles away 1 PHOTO In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago.... |
