E Z Go is a pleasant campground nearby; if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Lake Defiance Trail. Through the days of summer highs here at Lake of the Coves get into the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Lake of the Coves. hiking trail close by called the Lake Defiance Nature Trail. This lake is so wonderful. The Fox River Trail is a brilliant hiking trail in the neighborhood of Lake of the Coves, and Lake of the Coves is not the only location close
by, Crabtree Lake is a close by lake. You'll meet a lot of people from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet here, and a day on the slopes of Villa Olivia is just what you need. A lake close by is South Lake of the Coves; you can run the
rapids of Fox River. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining things at Lake of the Coves. From a rain point of view Lake of the Coves is a quite typical place; the month of June is the wettest with most of
the rain, and February is when it's the driest. Stay the night at Buffalo Park Campground, and dry warm beds await you at Candlewood Suites CHICAGO/HOFFMAN ESTATES.

Fox River
 | 15 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
