Through the long summer days at Lake in the Hills Number 2 temperatures are usually in the 80's, and the night is a tad cooler of course, generally in the 60's. local campground, and Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites CHICAGO-ALGONQUIN is a wonderful spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Head up to Villa Olivia and strap some skis to your feet. Lakes? Sure, Lake in the Hills
is nearby. There are some fine whitewater spots on Fox River. This lake is so wonderful. You ought to absolutely pop by wonderful Indian Trail Beach since you're here at Lake in the Hills Number 2, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Leather Leaf Bog Trail.

 | 16 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
