Lake in the Hills is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. If you need a location to stay Chicago/Crystal Lake Super 8 Motel is a nice choice, and there are other sites here than Lake in the Hills, for example Lake in the Hills Number 2. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Chicago-Algonquin, Il, and you can have a delightful hiking adventure along the Leather Leaf Bog Trail. This lake is so wonderful. and nighttime lows in the 0's for Lake in the Hills. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Lake in the Hills that you need to camp here for a while, Fox Valley Camp Ground is a brilliant site for that, and do
take a hike on the Lake Defiance Trail. Lake in the Hills gets a normal amount of annual rain; June is when you get the most rain here, and February on the other hand is the driest. Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only
- no skiing) has glorious slopes and a friendly staff, and lakes are such peaceful places, why not check out Lake Braewood. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Fox River.

 | 16 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
