Lake Osborne is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. Do visit Quarry Lake near Lake Osborne, it's a picturesque lake. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Red Roof Inn Chicago Naperville, and the slopes of Four Lakes are so inviting noone can resist. The yearly rain here at Lake Osborne is about average; June is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. That right there is plenty already,

| | but it goes on; Lake Osborne has it all. Golf can be played at Cresscreek Country Club; Fawell Dam is an interesting thing to check out. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Fox River; Lake Osborne is good enough to spend more than a day at, Empress Rv Resort is a good local campground. After a long day outdoors Springhill Suites By Marriott Warrenville is a perfect spot to spend a night or two; what would winter be without some skiing at Villa Olivia. Summertime | |

Fox River
 | 10 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |

 | 10 miles away 1 PHOTO To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest.... |
