Dry warm beds await you at Eaglewood Resort and Spa, and Lake Kadijah Dam is a place that is near Lake Kadijah. Lake Kadijah gets a common amount of yearly rainfall; most of the rain falls throughout August, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor is a very good site to stop by right next door to Lake Kadijah, and the slopes of Villa Olivia are so inviting nobody can resist. But

ski! Four Lakes is a perfect place to do that, and whitewater paddling is tremendous on Fox River. Des Plaines has a magnificent whitewater paddling spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Green River Oaks is always a glorious experience; if you need a spot to stay Holiday Inn CHICAGO WEST-ITASCA is a fine choice.

 | 18 miles away 1 PHOTO To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest.... |

While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen. Fox River
 | 19 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
