| I had the best time at rolling oaks campground on July 8th through July the 14th, and plan on going back in about a week to spend some more time up there with my boyfriend before the summer ends. | Glenwood RV Resort is nestled in the lush Illinois River Valley, just one mile from the Illinois River and only 16 miles from the famous Starved Rock State Park. Large, fully-improved sites are sprinkled throughout this 400-acre park. We have several hundred acres of trails. Enjoy local sightseeing and water sports or relax by Glenwood's pool and swimming pond.......as about four or five then. There are five children in our family and we camped there frequently. Our mother took us there often for two reasons. One to take a break from our every day lives and mostly to get away from my alchoholic father. We went there at all hours of the day and night. In summertime when the sun was shining we swam almost the whole day and when it rained and the only camping spot left in the middle of the night was going downhill,the rain poured through our tent. Even though we went through some definite times of despair, our mother took us to a place where we could feel safe and try and have some joy in life. I remember sitting around the campfire where there were sing-a-longs after the sun went down. Swimming all day, hiking all day in the trails surrounding the campgrounds with new found friends was always a ton of fun. I have lived in Arizona and California since 1983 and I still have a strong desire to bring my children to a place I called home many a terrifying night. I found comfort in the down to earth spirit of Glenwood Farms. I only hope it is ... |

| Very nice campground. Staff was very nice but owner was very crabby - all the time!...They are so much fun...I've been camping there since I was a kid and now my husband and I are getting ready to go on our first camping trip together. We'll be there 8 days and I just can't wait! It's owned by an amazing family and the grounds are beautiful and well kept. FIVE STARS!... |
