Stay the night at Buck Ridge Campground; swamps like Caplinger Pond are fun to stop by. Go for a hike on the River to River Trail, and do have a look at Belford Lake, it's a lovely lake. All the water falling down from the sky makes Knights of Pythias Lake a wet site; March is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. If you come at the right time of year, Little Grassy Creek offers some magnificent whitewater; while you're here, you
could also have a look at lovely Marion Reservoir. If only every location had this much outdoors entertaining things, what a great globe it would be. If you're going to Knights of Pythias Lake from Marion-Herrin, you won't be the only one; Knights of Pythias Lake Dam has pleasant water scenery.

Buck Ridge Campground
 | Buck Ridge Campground was closed in 2007 and I'm very upset to see that happen. The area is depressed and could really benefit from this wonderful campground. You can still hike in but we will miss our trips and the wonderful memories that awaited us. I'm truly upset about this loss. The park is gorgeous. I hope to see an outpouring of requests to reopen this national treasure.... |
