     If you like skiing, you're in luck; Four Lakes is close to Kingsport Lake, and you can have a good hiking adventure along the Volo Bog Interpretive Trail. The vistas at Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor will blow your mind. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Kingsport Lake; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is February. A delightful lake like Volkening Lake near Kingsport Lake is a splendid site  
   to check out, and camping at Green River Oaks is always a perfect experience.
This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Wingate by Wyndham Schaumburg / Convention Center is a good choice, and there are plenty of folks from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet here. Kingsport Lake is right by the Lake Defiance Trail; Turner Pond is a pleasant lake close by. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Schaumburg; get

During the days of summer here at Kingsport Lake, high temperatures typically get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Kingsport Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Be careful coming to Kingsport Lake, you might not ever want to go back home again. Hiking along the Tamarack View Trail is tremendous fun; an afternoon playing golf at Golden Acres Country Club is always a joy. A day on the slopes of Villa Olivia is just what you need; Kingsport Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, E Z Go is a magnificent local campground.

While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron....

The Red and Yellow trails are good too, but the Blue is such a delight that the thought of it gets me off the couch. The prairie! Luscious theme park sized soil undulations caused by the glacier! Interesting gravel. You sense the deer watching you. About an hour around if you are walking for fitness.  Avoid only when icy.  Plenty of parking....
