    Why not stop by Joes Pond if you're passing through these parts. So many enjoyable things to do here at Joes Pond, too splendid to be true. Head up to Villa Olivia and strap some skis to your feet. Tuma Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and Four Lakes is a very popular ski area in close proximity. Get your heart pumping on the splendid whitewater of Des Plaines; the fine people of Chicago-Naperville-Joliet like to hang out close by.

   is so wonderful. A perfect site to camp here at Joes Pond is A-ok Campgrounds Of Frankfort, and if you haven’t been to Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor, you have to schedule some time for it if you're here. A fine close by hotel is Best Western -Countryside, and as expected Crooked Creek flows through this neighborhood. Interesting geology is available here; Swallow Cliffs is near Joes Pond, and playing golf is lots of fun at Flagg Creek Golf  
               Course Restaurant.
All through the warm months highs here at Joes Pond reach the 80's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 60's. Throughout the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 20's, and night lows through the wintertime for Joes Pond tend to be in the 10's. If you like the outdoors, you'll adore Joes Pond. If you need a site to stay Marriott Chicago Southwest At Burr Ridge is a great choice; if you get bored of Joes Pond you could also stop at nearby Mallard Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Maple Lake Dam is worth a visit if you're here, and if you like swamps you're in luck, Belly Deep Slough is right close by.
A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Joes Pond; July is the wettest month with most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. Camping at Windy City Campground is always a glorious experience, and some wonderful nature is available in Cherry Hill Woods.

The Governor’s office recently announced that the State of Illinois will be closing the I&M and Hennepin Canal State Parks. While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen. To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest....

Villa Olivia is a great place to bring your family specially of you have small kids. It's like a big snow playground. The slope is not very impressive but it's ok for a quick little mini ski trip....
