If you are traveling by, why not stop by Illinois Waterway. A delightful nearby hotel is Red Roof Inn Joliet, and obviously Fraction Run flows through this region. While you're here at Illinois Waterway you can take a hike along the Tallgrass Nature Trail, and you can stay the night at Empress Rv Resort. This lake is so wonderful. What would winter be without some skiing at Four Lakes, and if you need a site to stay Super 8 Motel - Joliet/Chicago/I-80 is a great

There's some attention-grabbing stuff to spot at Lockport Powerhouse and Controling Work Dam close to Illinois Waterway, and a good place for whitewater paddling is Des Plaines. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Illinois Waterway. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Illinois Waterway. Not enough hours in a day | |

Illinois Waterway is a relatively typical site; July is the month that gets the most rain while February is ordinarily the driest month. For you golfers we recommend nearby Prairie Bluff Public Golf Club, and you're most likely interested in lakes, Lake Strini is one of those nearby.

 | 1 PHOTO To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest.... |
