And if that's not enough, there's lots more to do in close proximity to Heron Lake. Not far from Heron Lake, you'll locate Elm Lake which is a beautiful lake. This lake is so wonderful. Getting to Goose Creek from Heron Lake is easy; Heron Lake is a great site to visit for more than one day, Lake Campalot is a great site to camp nearby. For the duration       of the days of summer at Heron Lake highs are typically in the 90's. Through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Heron Lake dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. A great place for whitewater paddling near Heron Lake is Piney Branch River; Heron Lake is not far at all from Carbondale.
