Get yourself into a kayak and hit Fox River, and E Z Go is a brilliant local campground. Gotta ski! Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing) is a perfect location to do that, and the scenery at Keene Lake Dam is scenic. Go for a hike on the Fox River Trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Keene Lake. Summertime highs at Heather Lake commonly tend to be in the 80's. | | drop down to the 60's. During the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 20's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Heather Lake plunge into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Heather Lake is a splendid place to visit for more than one day, Fox Valley Camp Ground is a splendid place to camp nearby, and if you need a spot to stay Hoffman Estates Chicago Red Roof Inn is a glorious choice. so little time. After a long day outdoors Days Inn Barrington - Chicago is a delightful site to spend a night or two. Lakes? Sure, Stephanie Lake is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. There are brilliant locations to discover
along the Lake Defiance Trail, and in close proximity to Heather Lake you discover a golf course called Makray Memorial Golf Club. An average amount of rainfall falls at Heather Lake; all through the month of August you get the most
rain around here, and the driest month of the year is February. Don't leave Heather Lake without first going for a hike along the Lake Defiance Nature Trail, and everybody close by loves skiing at Villa Olivia.

 | 18 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
