Lakes are such serene places, why not have a look at Hawthorn Lake in close proximity to Hawley Lake, and not far from Hawley Lake you obtain some great water scenery at Keene Lake Dam. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Villa Olivia, and paddling on Fox River is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful. E Z Go is a perfect campground nearby; since you're here you can take a hike along the Lake Defiance Trail. This lake is so wonderful.

There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river.
