After a long day outdoors Super 8 Rantoul is a fine place to spend a night or two; Greenwood Lake is a nearby lake that you could pop by. A quick trip to Dickerson Slough in close proximity to Greenwood Lake is a great idea; why not camp at D and w Lake Camping and Fishing while you're here at Greenwood Lake. Prairie Pines Campground is a delightful local campground; during your journey here you'll meet some people from Champaign-Urbana for sure. This lake

| | is so wonderful. If you get bored of Greenwood Lake, you could also check out nearby Trautman Lake, and a glorious close by hotel is Best Western Heritage Inn. From a precipitation point of view Greenwood Lake is a quite normal site; through July this area sees the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Greenwood Lake throughout the long summer days are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 60's. | |

The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Greenwood Lake. So many fun things to do at Greenwood Lake, so little time. The scenery at Greenwood Lake Dam close to Greenwood Lake is lovely.

 | We are full time working RVers.. We live in a large 5th wheel with a HDT to tow it. We have been here a couple of months and hope to stay for 4 more. The management has been more than agreeable to work with. Very friendly and accomodating. They have a 3 acre area dedicated to people who will be here for a while and an area for people who will be here for a shorter time and an area for people who will be here essentially ovenight. There is also an area for tent camping. For us it is less than 15 minutes to work on the far side of Urbana. The area has a great deal to offer in the way of entertainment with the UIUC campus just a few miles away, The air museum at Rantoul and many other attractions.. 2 hours North to Chicago,3 hours Southwest to St.Louis, and 2 hours East to Indianapolis. A couple of hours south and you will be at the greatest secret in the Midwest.. the Shawnee National Forest. happy camping. for golfers there is a driving range on site and a nice coarse less than a mile away.... |

While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen.
