Greenwood Lake is not the only place nearby, Trautman Lake is a nearby lake, and you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Champaign-Urbana here. If you need a spot to stay Super 8 Motel - Rantoul is a good choice, also Greenwood Lake Dam is worth visiting since you're here.  | We are full time working RVers.. We live in a large 5th wheel with a HDT to tow it. We have been here a couple of months and hope to stay for 4 more. The management has been more than agreeable to work with. Very friendly and accomodating. They have a 3 acre area dedicated to people who will be here for a while and an area for people who will be here for a shorter time and an area for people who will be here essentially ovenight. There is also an area for tent camping. For us it is less than 15 minutes to work on the far side of Urbana. The area has a great deal to offer in the way of entertainment with the UIUC campus just a few miles away, The air museum at Rantoul and many other attractions.. 2 hours North to Chicago,3 hours Southwest to St.Louis, and 2 hours East to Indianapolis. A couple of hours south and you will be at the greatest secret in the Midwest.. the Shawnee National Forest. happy camping. for golfers there is a driving range on site and a nice coarse less than a mile away.... |

While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen.
