There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Villa Olivia, and Goose Lake is not the only place nearby, Twin Lakes is a nearby lake. From a rainfall point of view Goose Lake is a relatively normal site; during the month of June you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest. You're sure to bump into some nice folks from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet here. This lake is so wonderful. A great nearby hotel is Days Inn Barrington

After a long day outdoors Chicago Marriott Northwest is a brilliant place to spend a night or two, and Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing) has good slopes and a friendly staff. are ordinarily in the 20's while Goose Lake night low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Lake Defiance Trail, and a lake nearby is Lacey Lake. Fox Valley Camp Ground is a glorious
campground nearby; hiking is a popular thing to do around Goose Lake; Fox River Trail is a splendid local trail. This lake is so wonderful. Goose Lake is right by the Lake Defiance Nature Trail, and not far from here you can enjoy
the trees of Spring Creek Valley Forest Preserve. If you go for the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Goose Lake. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Lake Barrington Shores Golf Club is close by, and Goose Lake is a good place to visit for more than one day, Buffalo Park Campground is a good place to camp nearby.

Fox River
 | 16 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
