     Goose Lake is a nice lake to visit. There's whitewater on Bear Creek for all you adrenaline people. There's so much to do here at Goose Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Valley View Mobile Home Park is a great place for that. So much cool stuff right next door to Goose Lake, completely incredible. If you like swamps, you're in luck, Harkness Branch is right close by, and dry warm beds await you at Quincy - Days Inn. Golf can be played at Cedar Crest  
   Country Club, and there are plenty of folks from Quincy here.
Goose Lake gets a normal amount of yearly rain; July is the month that gets the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. Don't forget to take a wonderful little spree to Bear Creek, and if you need a site to stay Microtel Quincy is a splendid choice. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Goose Lake. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. Through the wintertime highs are usually
 
               in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Goose Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Goose Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Whispering Oaks Campgrounds is a good local campground. A short spree to Homan Falls is always worthwhile, and Shanty Bend Pond is a glorious lake close by. This lake is so wonderful. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Cedar Creek. Lakes? Sure, Spring Lake is close by.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
