A good place to camp here at Foxcroft Lake is Cedar Ridge Primitive Campground; scenic scenery and pleasant skiing is what you obtain at Villa Olivia. If only every place had this much outdoors exciting things, what a great planet it would be. Foxcroft Lake is not the only site nearby, Nelson Lake is a nearby lake, and naturally East Run is a beautiful stream that is worth taking a look at. Looking for something near Foxcroft Lake? Skiing at Four Lakes is one of those things you just must do, and camping at Hide-A-Way Lakes is always a tremendous experience. Chicago is a delightful spot to spend a night or two, and there's fine hiking along the Beaver Dam Hiking and Cross-Country Ski Trail. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Foxcroft Lake. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 60's.
For the duration of the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 20's; overnight lows at Foxcroft Lake during the winter usually plunge into the 0's. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn CHICAGO - AURORA, and the Fox Ridge
Nature Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. A good place for whitewater paddling near Foxcroft Lake is Fox River.

Fox River
 | While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
